SURBITON COURT FLATS 1-69 HANDBOOK

Moving In/Out & Deliveries

When moving in or out of Surbiton Court, please ensure that you and your removals contractors do not cause any damage to the common parts, or leave any packaging materials or debris anywhere in the communal areas or gardens.

Professional removers will normally know how to manoeuvre bulky items, like furniture, washing machines, etc., without causing damage to floors, walls and stair rails. If you are doing it yourself, make sure that you have a supply of old blankets, padding, etc to minimise scratching the floors and damaging the paintwork.

Remedial work for any damage, or the removal/disposal of packaging, etc., will be charged to the flat owner responsible: if you are a sub-tenant, your landlord will pass this charge on to you.

Removals contractors should also be made aware of the height restriction under the arches in order to avoid any damage to the building. The rectangular cross section is approximately: height 3.2m x width 2.7m (10ft 6" x 8ft 10"). This is topped by an approximately semicircular arch; a lamp housing hangs from the middle of the archway.

Moving in or out should only take place during normal working hours, not at night.

It will be helpful to the new residents moving in if you leave them a note with a reference to this website www.surbitoncourt.com and draw their attention to the Handbook.

Similarly, when having large items delivered, please ensure that your delivery contractors do not cause any damage to the communal areas. Reduce the size and bulk of any packaging, by cutting up boxes and compressing packing material (where possible), before disposing of it in the communal bins.

If you are expecting a delivery while you are out, please take steps to minimise the time it is left on the landing outside your flat, e.g. by specifying that your parcel is left with a neighbour. Not only will this reduce the hazard to neighbours passing by your front door (possibly escaping a fire), it will discourage casual intruders and thieves.
